Water Reader

Dearest,

Last we saw the writer Agnieszka Gratza, she was shrinking. She had asked to be dropped at the base of a mountain outside of Stykkishólmur, a small town in the north of Iceland. No pack, no walking stick, we watched her grow smaller in the rearview mirror of the rental car, waving herself into the grass, the rock, the vast gray sky.

I write to you with good news: intrepid Agnieszka has come down from the mountain, and she has come to New York, and she has brought with her a new publication: Book of Volcanic Swims. Since 2015, she has been swimming in sulphurous waters around the world, and the book forms a record of her growing collection. On the evening of November 12, at 7pm, we will host Water Reader, an evening of readings, to celebrate Agnieszka's arrival in NYC and her new work.

And we are lucky beyond lucky: in addition to Agnieszka, we will hear from poets Rami Karim and Emma Wippermann, whose work will float towards and drift from the evening's theme, and from writers Leigh Gallagher and Megan Stockton, who will present a joint work remotely from Detroit.

Please join us at 134 Bowery 3S on Sunday, November 12, at 7 pm. There will be drinks and vegetarian chili.

Friends and lovers, welcome as ever.

On the wave,

David and Sal
